Fancy jetting off to sunny Spain next year with the clubs in tow? You could be heading for a three-night stay at the spectacular La Cala resort on the Costa del Sol courtesy of The Heritage Golf Resort if you take part in their Race to La Cala Series – running daily from November 13th 2023 to March 13th 2024.

The fantastic Ballesteros Course in Killenard, Co. Laois are welcoming groups of four to take part in a daily scramble on the Seve designed parkland course (an ever present in Irish Golfer Magazine’s Top-100 Irish course rankings) with the top 30 scores accumulated throughout the duration of the series qualifying for the grand final which will be held on Saturday April 06th.

At the Grand Final the teams with the best gross and nett scores will earn the top prizes of a coveted trip to the Spanish golfing mecca where they can enjoy three rounds of golf (with buggies included) on each of La Cala’s three championship courses complete with a bed & breakfast stay and a hydrotherapy session at the award winning resort situated near Marbella.

Prizes for additional placings will also be on offer on the day but it’s sure to be the opportunity to take your fourball on an international trip that will be the primary target.

“We’re delighted to team up with La Cala and be able to offer these fantastic top prizes,” said Ger Dempsey (Sales Manager at The Heritage Golf Resort). “La Cala is one of the best golf resorts in Spain with 3 championship courses onsite as well as an award winning hotel and spa. The two teams who are our lucky winners in the grand final will certainly be in for a treat”.

“We see a great opportunity during the winter months to put on this Race To La Cala Series. Most golfers love a team scramble once competitive golf winds down. This series will hopefully keep golfers interested and excited at the same time”.

“We’re very conscious that scrambles can sometimes favour mid to high handicap golfers so the inclusion of a best Gross in the grand final should favour the teams with lower handicaps and incentivise them that it’s worth playing in. That is our hope anyway”.

The series is open to ladies and gents – all of whom must have an official Golf Ireland handicap. Entry is €200 per team of four and can be booked by clicking here.
