Ireland jumped to T23 after day two of the Eisenhower Trophy at Abu Dhabi Golf Club in the UAE.

The World Amateur Team Championships began yesterday and straight away Ireland were handed the tougher conditions in the sweltering afternoon heat.

But they bounced back today with 2022 US Mid-Amateur champion Matt McClean (Malone) leading the charge as he moved up the leaderboard in the individual ranks. A flawless scorecard which included a couple of birdies on either nine helped him up 23 places to T23.

Liam Nolan (Galway) is next best of the Irish after a second round of 71 helped him to jump six places into T70. Alex Maguire (Laytown & Bettystown) is also T70 following back-to-back 73s.

In the overall leaderboard, Ireland are up three places to T23 just behind the trio of Japan, Germany and Morocco.
