Patrick Koenig has successfully broken the World Record for the most different 18-hole golf courses played in a single year as he completed the 18th hole of his 450th golf course this year.

Koenig’s remarkable journey, ‘The RGV Tour 2.0,’ has been a monumental endeavour. He first embarked on a golf journey in 2018 where he purchased an RV (or RGV – recreational golf vehicle as he calls it) and toured America playing golf.  He played 405 courses that time around but this time he set himself the target of playing a staggering 500 golf courses across a 365 day period.

He is set to complete that tally ahead of the Tour’s finale in January and his passion and determination have now rewritten the record books, surpassing the previous record of 449 courses set back in 2009.

Koenig is an ECCO Golf ambassador and given the number of kilometres he’s walked you’d like to think he chose well!! Throughout the challenge, Koenig exclusively relied on ECCO GOLF shoes, and Koenig commented: “There are no other golf shoes that I would rather have played 450 different golf courses in besides ECCO. They are comfortable, perform exceptionally well and are built to last. It’s the perfect recipe for this world record achievement.”

The Tour was done with charity in mind and funds raised will be going to the First Tee of Greater Seattle and also to some other charities around the USA.

Timo Vollrath, Head of Global Marketing at ECCO GOLF, expressed his admiration for Koenig’s remarkable feat, commenting: “We’re really proud to have partnered with Patrick during his World Record attempt. It’s a great honour to support Patrick during a year in which he spent a lot of time in his golf shoes.

“Huge congratulations to Patrick for this incredible achievement, and we are delighted that ECCO GOLF shoes have completed the record-breaking 450 courses with him!”

Koenig has documented his journey across the USA on his Instagram account, which can be found here, and on his dedicated website, which can be found here.
