Colm Moriarty, Brian McCormack, Shane Jenkinson and Michael McGeady couldn’t be separated at the end of the Ballymore Newlands Pro-Am.

The quartet were tied at the top on one-under-par after heavy wind and rain made for tough scoring in Dublin.

It’s back-to-back wins for McCormack who shot a superb 67 in Mount Juliet on Tuesday while Moriarty claims his second tied win of the campaign and Jenkinson and McGeady get off the mark for the season.

Glasson professional Moriarty carded a birdie and two bogeys on his front nine but bookended an extremely solid back nine with two birdies either side of seven pars to jump into a share of first prize.

“It was a lovely day, very blustery conditions, tricky for scoring and the course was superb,” said Moriarty. “Every course has been in great condition this year but the greens in Newlands were absolutely perfect, you couldn’t have better greens so while the wind and rain made scoring difficult, the condition of the course was fantastic.

“It’s great to see Ballymore involved there again and Peter Lawrie so it was a fantastic vent which was very popular with the members as well.

“The back nine was very solid. I was very scrappy on the front nine and I tidied things up on the back nine and it was nice to birdie the last and finish well to get the tied win. I was out a little bit earlier and I had a long wait but I was delighted to share the win.

“We’re in Elm Park on Tuesday then up in Donegal next weekend for a great pro-am in Murvagh. Really looking forward to that and credit to Michael McGeady for all his work in that.”

Waterville’s David Higgins and his team scooped the pro-am title on 89 points a shot ahead of the Island professional Jenkinson and his team.

Kilkenny’s Eoin O’Connor and his side took third place on 86, thanks to 44 points on the back nine.
