Golfers using the Golf Ireland App can now add general play scores from any affiliated golf course in England, Scotland, and Wales – in addition to courses in Ireland – thanks to new interoperability software.

The extension within the app allows general play scores from courses in any of the four home nations to count towards a player’s Handicap Index.

Not only does the new function allow players to submit scores in GB&I to their handicap record, but also permits their electronic scorecard to be attested by any member of an affiliated club within the four countries.

Golf Ireland, working alongside England Golf, Scottish Golf and Wales Golf have collaborated with technology platform provider DotGolf to develop this exciting enhancement which is now available to all users of the Golf Ireland App.

Mark Kennelly, Golf Ireland CEO said:

“We’re thrilled to announce the launch of a digital feature enabling cross-border scoring for all Golf Ireland App users across GB&I. This transformation is a huge achievement, thanks to a concerted effort with our home nations’ colleagues and our technology provider, DotGolf,” said Kennelly.

“Now golfers can conveniently pre-register their intent, engage in play, submit, and attest a general play score anywhere within GB&I. Crucially, this can be done with any member affiliated with one of the home unions.

“This innovation also marks a significant boost for our club handicap committees. The need for manual score input of general play scores from England, Scotland or Wales is eliminated, paving the way for seamless management of golfers through their respective club’s WHS™ platform.

“We look forward to the increased engagement and satisfaction it brings to golfers and committees alike. And we remain committed to delivering digital advancements that enrich the golfing experience for golfers across the island of Ireland.”

Golfers can register or access their ‘My Golf’ account at any time on desktop using the My Account login page. Once registered, golfers can download the Golf Ireland App by searching “Golf Ireland App” on Apple and Android devices.
