Over 100 players arrived to Hilton Templepatrick for the 2022 Underage Interprovincial Matches. The four-day event takes place this week (18-21 July) with U14, U16 and U18 teams from all four provinces competing in a round-robin format.
Monday saw the beginning of the U14 and U16 Boys’ events, with two rounds to be played in each before tomorrow’s final deciders.
In the U14’s, defending Champions Leinster and Ulster got their 2022 bids off to a positive start, overcoming Connacht and Munster respectively in the morning series. They then swapped opponents for the afternoon match but the outcome was the same as both secured their second points of the day, meaning the two sides will face off today for the interprovincial title.
In the U16’s Ulster again were dominant. Alongside a strong Munster team, they secured 2 victories on Day 1 to set up a north vs. south head-to-head today.
The U18 events begin on Tuesday morning where the U18 Girls’ competition will see seven players compete in three foursomes and six singles matches, while the U18 Boys competition sees seven players compete in three foursomes and seven singles matches.
