Collin Morikawa has taken to social media to set the record straight – not for the first time – and pledge his allegiance to the PGA Tour.

The world number four and two-time Major winner had read his name in a number of LIV Golf-related posts online but Morikawa has denied that he’ll follow the likes of Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau to the Saudi-backed series.

“Just your #11 money winner on PIP here to say good morning to everyone,” Morikawa tweeted.

“Last week at my press conference, I said the media loves creating drama. Sure enough, I woke up this morning to everyone thinking I’m next. Not to say I told you so but…I told you so.

“To state for the record, once again, you all are absolutely wrong. I’ve said it since February at Riviera that I’m here to stay on the PGA TOUR and nothing has changed. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some cereal to pour in my milk.”

The news will come as a major boost to PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan who’s expected to deliver a press conference on Wednesday at 6pm Irish time following a mandatory player meeting on Tuesday.

Reports from the meeting suggest that the PGA Tour intends to transform its fall season from 2023 with the Top-50 on the FedEx standings set to qualify for mega bonus events while the rest of the tour competes for their cards and improved status ahead of the 2024 campaign.

PGA Tour and DP World Tour will have to sit down with LIV golf at some stage to discuss way forward for all tours.
Ignoring them and banning players will only serve their cause further.
