Olivia Mehaffey missed her second consecutive cut on the Ladies European Tour as an error-laden front-nine saw her finish well off the mark at the Mithra Ladies Open in Belgium.
The Tandragee woman had a triple-bogey and a double-bogey on her card before she reached the turn and she would eventually sign for a four-over 76 at Naxhelet Golf Club to finish in a share of 101st at nine-over for the week.
With the cut falling at three-over, Mehaffey was always playing from behind after a five-over 77 in her opening round and she would quickly take herself out of contention with a triple-bogey eight at the par-five third and then compounded that with a double-bogey at the par-three eighth.
Her first birdie had arrived at the fifth and she added another at the ninth, and she would at least complete the back-nine level-par after two birdies and two bogeys, but it’s another frustrating week for the former Arizona State star.
Mehaffey has produced some very solid work this season, with a ninth-placed finish at the Communidad de Madrid Ladies Open her best so far, but she is still waiting for that big result to kickstart her year.
At the top, Sweden’s Linn Grant looks on track for her fifth win of the year already as she opened up a three-shot lead heading into the final day as she added a four-under 68 to Friday’s 66 to sit atop the standings at 10-under.
But for a bogey at the 18th she would have gone bogey-free thanks to five birdies, but she looks to be in unstoppable form as she looks to add a second LET victory to her three Sunshine Tour successes.
Spain’s Luna Sobron Galmes and Switzerland’s Morgan Metraux are her closest challengers at seven-under-par, with the latter carding a superb 65 on day two, with Finland’s Elina Nummenpaa and England’s Cara Gainer a shot further back at six-under.
