Lauren Walsh helped the Wake Forest women’s golf team record the lowest, and only under par, score in the field on Tuesday to jump up the leaderboard three spots and take the lead after the second round of play at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate.

Castlewarden ace Walsh moved into a tie for seventh on the individual board, trading four birdies with a single bogey in a brilliant three-under par round of 68 to move back to even par for the tournament.

Walsh will now have eyes for individual honours and trails just three strokes behind Arizona State’s Calynne Rosholt. Wake Forest lead all teams in the field in scoring on par fours and par fives. The Deacs have also recorded the most birdies in the field so far with 28.

Walsh now sits a shot ahead of Ireland teammate Anna Foster after the Auburn sophomore carded an even par round of 71 to move inside the top-10 at one-over.

The Elm Park star was very solid, trading one birdie with one bogey and 16 pars in a comfortable second round effort that sets Foster up for a charge on the final day.
