Forrest Little’s Julie McCarthy has enjoyed a welcome return to form through two rounds of the Moon Golf Invitational where she sits inside the top-10 ahead of the final day at Suntree Country Club.

The Auburn player, competing as an individual this week, had opened with a brilliant three-under 69 and followed up with a two-over 74, leaving McCarthy at one-under par and in a tie for ninth.

McCarthy has carded seven birdies through two rounds but trails LSU’s Ingrid Lindblas by 10 shots with a round two go in Florida.

As for her Tigers teammate, Anna Foster, the Elm Park star added a three-over par round of 75 to an opening even par effort to be sitting a plus-three and in a tie for 28th.

Three Tigers shot under par Monday and helped the Auburn women’s golf team move up the leaderboard. After finishing the day at 1-under, Auburn is now in sixth place through the first two rounds.

Louisville’s Mairead Martin meanwhile struggled over the first two rounds, carding scores of 78 and 77 to be in a share of 70th place at plus-11. Miami’s Sara Byrne posted rounds of 80 and 83.

In the Tchefuncta Invitational, Tramore’s Little Rock convert Anna Dawson flies the flag for Ireland and sits just outside the top-10 in a share of 11th at 10-over par, seven strokes back of the leaders.

And in the men’s Watersound Invitational, Wake Forest’s Mark Power left his scoring shoes at home with rounds of 77 and 74 leaving the Kilkenny man in a share of 56th at seven-over. Louisville’s Max Kennedy was a shot better off after rounds of 76 and 74 put him just inside the top-50.
