Ryder Cup team-mates Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka will become rivals once more when the pair face-off in the latest instalment of The Match in Las Vegas.
The pair seemed to be able to put what’s left of their rivalry to one side as they helped Captain Steve Stricker to a record breaking 19-9 win at Whistling Straits. Ahead of the biennial contest, DeChambeau had hinted that something was in the pipe-line… “I think there may be something fun coming up here moving forward, but won’t speak too much more on that”… before it quickly came to light that another ‘Match’ was on the cards, this time between two divisive personalities in golf whose on-going “feud” has gone from the sublime to the ridiculous, fuelling speculation that it’s been manufactured more for PIP money than anything else.
But for those still interested, the two majors winners will go head to head over 12-holes at Wynn Golf Course – located on the Las Vegas strip – on Friday November 26.
This will be the fifth recreation of The Match, first played in 2018 when Phil Mickelson got the better of Tiger Woods in a hugely forgettable contest. Yet in fairness to Capital One’s The Match, the Series has raised nearly $30million in support of various charities since 2018 so there is that, at least.
