Ronan Mullarney proved his wind prowess once more to claim the Nett prize as Jonathan Yates took the Gross at the latest TaylorMade Winter Series event at Portmarnock Links. 92 players took advantage of a fine, fresh winter’s day on Dublin’s coast with Galway professional Mullarney, no stranger to a stiff breeze, firing five birdies on his way to a superb 68 to take the Nett prize by two shots from SQ Golf’s Steven Quinlan.

Meanwhile, Naas professional Yates made the turn in two-under with birdies on the fourth and ninth and threatened to go into overdrive with three birdies to start the back nine. A double bogey on the 14th halted momentum and was followed by another bogey on 17 before Yates birdied the last in a winning Gross score of 68, finishing one stroke clear of Royal Dublin’s Hugh Foley.
