The European Challenge Tour has announced Meliá Palma Marina, part of Meliá Hotels International, as the Official Hotel of the 2020 Challenge Tour Grand Final.
The season finale will take place at T-Golf & Country Club, Mallorca, from November 19-22 as the top 45 available players compete for a €350,000 prize fund on the Balearic island.
Meliá Palma Marina is an elegant urban resort with numerous food and beverage outlets, strategically located next to the seafront promenade in the Mallorcan capital with breath-taking views of the bay and the cathedral. The hotel also offers a 24-hour state of the art gym and the wonderful YHI Spa, containing seven treatment rooms, six massage rooms and a hydrotherapy area.
As part of Meliá Palma Marina’s partnership with the Challenge Tour Grand Final, all tournament staff and media will stay in their luxurious rooms during the week of the tournament, while the 45 players teeing it up at T-Golf will be offered a special discounted rate.
Chris Atkinson, Championship Director of the Challenge Tour Grand Final, said: “I would like to thank Meliá Palma Marina for their support of the Challenge Tour Grand Final.
“The partnership enables us to accommodate all tournament staff, officials and players in one place and by providing breakfast and an evening meal within the room rate, it allows us to safely execute the tournament within our Covid-19 tournament bubble protocols.
“The Challenge Tour Grand Final is our biggest event of the year and to have a partner of Meliá Palma Marina’s stature is fitting for a tournament of this prestige.”
José María Dalmau Domenech, Global Business Development VP of Meliá Hotels International, said: “At Meliá Hotels International we’re delighted and really proud to host the Challenge Tour Grand Final players and staff at Meliá Palma Marina in Mallorca.
“It’s a pleasure having both the organisation and this amazing field of players with us. We would like to thank the Challenge Tour and all involved entities for this great golf experience. At Meliá, golf is growing worldwide as a travel entry point, it’s a well-established segment in Europe and now also a significant area of growth in the Caribbean and Asia.
“In cooperation with Golfspain´s I-Master, the company has recently launched and added a new green fee booking engine at melia.com. All visitors can now book stay and play experiences in advance and confirm both accommodation and tee times directly online at different branded hotels and golf courses in all Spanish top golf destinations.”
The top 45 available players from the top 65 on the Road to Mallorca Rankings will compete in the season-ending Challenge Tour Grand Final, with the top five ranked players at the end of the event receiving additional playing opportunities on the European Tour next season.
