Ronan Mullarney remains on course to successfully navigate DP World Tour Q-School First Stage at Dunham Forest Golf Club in Altrincham and he goes into the final round tied for fifth with 18 places on offer.
After rounds of 67 and 69, the Galway man shot a two-over 72 in round three but fell just one place on the leaderboard with scoring proving tough on the course in Greater Manchester.
James Sugrue shot the joint low round of the day from an Irish perspective and his 69 lifted him to +3 alongside Dermot McElroy who shot a level-par 70 and they are one shot outside the qualification mark with +2 currently good for a seven-way tie for 18th.
Luke O’Neill has one further shot to pick up at +4, with Paul Conroy on +5 and Robert Brazill on +6 after the letter duo both matched Sugrue’s 69.
Marc Boucher’s race has been run as he fell to +14 but still has a final-round tee time.
Meanwhile, John Murphy, the lone Irishman in the field at Arlandastad Golf in Sweden, shot a two-under 68 to give himself a slender chance as he lies tied for 39th and four shots off the qualification mark with the leading 19 and ties advancing there.
