The LPGA and Kia have announced that the Kia Classic will not take place in 2020 and the event will return in its original March date in 2021 at Aviara Golf Club in Carlsbad, California.

The event was already moved to September 24-27 but has now become the 16th LPGA Tour event to fall victim to the coronavirus pandemic this year.

Its cancellation leaves the likes of Leona Maguire and Stephanie Meadow with just 11 Tour events to choose from following this week’s AIG Women’s Open.

“We appreciate all of the efforts by Kia to try and make this event happen this year and we look forward to playing again at beautiful Aviara Golf Club in 2021,” said LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan.
