England’s Charley Hull is the latest high-profile name confirmed to play in this coming week’s ISPS Handa World Invitational Men | Women, presented by Modest! Golf.

Hull is a proven winner and has won on both the Ladies European Tour and LPGA Tour and is in line to be part of Catriona Matthew’s European Solheim Cup team to be announced in the next 24 hours.

The ISPS Ambassador competes mainly in the States but balances time with appearances in Europe. At the start of the year the 23-year-old travelled to Abu Dhabi and won the Fatima Bint Murbarak Open.

At the recent AIG Women’s British Open at Woburn, Hull was in contention at her home course before dropping back with a final round 76.

Since turning pro in 2013, Hull has been competing at the top level of the women’s game and has played in the last three Solheim Cups. The world number 28 is looking forward to teeing it up in Ireland in this first of its kind event for Europe.

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to compete in such an exciting new event and brand-new format where we will compete alongside the men and for the same prize money,” said Hull.

“I already have a close relationship with ISPS Handa as one of their Ambassadors and it’s great to see what they, Modest! Golf and the organisers are doing for this tournament and providing new playing opportunities that might not otherwise have been there.

“I also like playing golf in Ireland. The people are nice, the golf is great and I’m looking forward to competing in this exciting new format.”

“Tournaments like this are great for the game, it definitely helps get more young people into the golf,” added Hull.

Hull made an immediate impact as young rookie on tour. She quickly finished runner-up on five consecutive occasions after turning professional in 2013 before being named European Rookie of the Year.

Such efforts meant she became the youngest player to compete in the Solheim Cup in 2013, aged 17. Her first professional win came a year later in Morocco. In 2016 she won the high-profile, season-ending Tour Championship on the LPGA Tour.

“To have Charley competing here at the ISPS Handa World Invitational is a wonderful endorsement of what we are trying to do here with this exciting and innovative tournament,” enthused Modest! Golf’s Niall Horan.

“We have a wonderful field gathered and Charley will join household names like Solheim Cup Captain Catriona Matthew, who has an exciting week ahead after she announces her European team to take on the Americans at Gleneagles next month.

“The ISPS Handa World Invitational is set to be another historic week for Irish golf and we are delighted to have so many of the game’s best players competing here in Northern Ireland once more.”

The ISPS Handa World Invitational Men | Women gets underway from Wednesday August 14th with the Celebrity Pro-am before the first round begins the following day at Galgorm Castle and Massereene Golf Club.
