The latest event in our 2021 Irish Golfer Series stopped off at the pristine Powerscourt East where a big field fought tooth and nail for the €5,000 worth of prizes and Grand Final places on offer at the stunning Wicklow venue.

After a cloudy start to the day, the sun soon shone through, lighting up the luscious Wicklow parkland with players raving about its conditioning and the scoring for the day reflecting its playability. Anthony Flynn’s 39 points was best of all in Category One, not only taking home the TaylorMade SIM2 Driver but also booking his place in November’s Grand Final at the K Club.

It was a high-scoring contest in Category Two where Colin Rafter needed every one of his 43 points to edge Larry Doyle into second. Rafter left Powerscourt a happy man with a new TaylorMade SIM2 Max Driver in tow as well as his Grand Final Place.

In Category Three, Rose Walker’s 33 points proved enough to capture the top prize of a TaylorMade SIM3 Max Driver and a K Club date for November. Conor McCarthy and Ross McKinley were throwing darts to take the Nearest to the Pin prizes while Niall McMullan’s 78 won the Best Gross on the day.

Thanks again to the whole team at Powerscourt East for hosting us so well. The feedback was superb and it was our pleasure to visit.
