As the inaugural Sustainable Golf Week looks to bring the golfing community together to shape a greener future for the game, Galvin Green has announced that almost 3 million PET plastic bottles have been recycled and transformed into its high performance eco-generation INSULA sweater range over the past three years.
Having become an Innovation Partner to the GEO Foundation in 2021, Galvin Green has accelerated its commitment to minimise social and environmental impact while, at the same time, helping to maximise performance by creating functional, long-lasting and stylish garments for men and women golfers.
In the case of the award-winning range of INSULA sweaters, this has been achieved through transforming large quantities of recycled plastic bottles into polyester yarns used in the production of each garment. The brand has also sourced Bluesign and OEKO-TEX standard 100 approved eco-friendly materials in much of its latest Part Two collection – from the original fabric to thread and buttons. Recycled plastic packaging and display hangers complete the brand’s comprehensive drive towards a greener offering.

In 2021, the pioneering eco-generation INSULA range of sweaters won the first ever ‘Sustainability in Sport’ award at the prestigious Sports Technology Awards, adding to the brand’s reputation for creating sustainable and environmentally friendly products.
The Swedish company – based in the 2018 European Green Leaf Award winning southern city of Växjö – has stayed true to its ‘Never Compromise’ motto by using suppliers that operate in an environmentally responsible manner. For example, the INSULA fabric is crafted at a hi-tech factory in Italy with a long tradition of producing high quality knitted fabrics in a sustainable way. Around 70% of the factory’s total energy needs, which is the most non environmentally friendly factor in production, come from solar panels fitted on the roof.
This approach has ensured the brand has constantly pushed the boundaries in introducing technical fabrics and stylish, functional clothing to encourage golfers to play whatever the weather, knowing that the garments offer unrivalled long-lasting comfort as well as performance benefits.
