Leona Maguire couldn’t make a move in the right direction in round three of the HSBC Women’s World Championship as she fell further down the leaderboard.
Magurie carded a round of 75 to fall back to six-over-par for the championship and in a share of 54th place overall.
The Cavan star, playing her third successive week in Asia registered just two birdies and mixed in five bogeys.
At the top of the leaderboard is Japanese star Ayaka Furue who carded a moving day 68 to leapfrog overnight leader Celine Boutier and open a two shot lead at the summit on ten-under-par.
Furue did her damage on the front nine, roaring out of the traps with back-to-back birdies before adding a birdie on the par-5 5th and par-3 7th to turn in 32.
As it looked like she might increase her advantage she slowed up on the back nine with a bogey on 11 and a birdie on 12.
Furue was pleased with how she started her round as she rode some early momentum.
“The front nine holes, I had like three birdies, and I just kind of keep my momentum going. So that’s really good for me. I just feel excited to be part of the top of the leaderboard.
“I was just thinking about catching up with Celine today and making birdies. I just feel good.”
Furue leads the tournament in putting through the first three rounds and after an opening 71 she has been happy to see a few more putts drop.
“Nothing special for the tournament but it was really hard to read the green on the first day. But after playing the first day, I kind of maintained my putting and I kept going on.”
