Robert Moran closed out with a four-under 66 to take leading Irishman honours at the Alps Tour’s Memorial Giorgio Bordoni in Como, Italy, finishing tied for 12th, one shot ahead of Ronan Mullarney.
Hugh Foley, playing in the final group, had a day to forget and slipped down to T27, but Moran, who made the turn at +1 after mixing two early birdies with three bogeys, caught fire on the way home, birdieing six of his final nine holes with one bogey thrown in.
Mullarney’s round was a little less dramatic, mixing three birdies with one bogey in a five-hole stretch either side of the turn, otherwise carding all pars on his way to a closing 68.
But it was Spain’s Asier Aguirre Izcue who made all the running and secured a one-stroke victory after a closing level-par round of 70.
Italian Flavio Michetti finished in solo second, one shot ahead of another Italian in Fillippo Grossi, Javier Barcos of Spain and Frenchman Victor Veyret who all shared third.
Mullarney sits in ninth place in the Alps Tour Order of Merit, with Foley in 16th and Moran in 19th.
