Olivia Mehaffey’s second round of 77 ended the Northern Irishwoman chances of a Sunday appearance as she missed the cut at the Big Green Egg Open in the Netherlands.

The cut of two-over-par was a step too far for Mehaffey who finished her tournament on five-over-par as the remainder of Round 2 was postponed due to poor visibility and finished on Sunday morning.

Sofie Bringner, who led the tournament after the opening round of play, still leads but now she finds herself in a 7-way tie at the top on seven-under par. There are another four players just one shot further back so it’s anyone’s tournament to win.

Mehaffey needed a solid start to the round and did just that in the opening five holes shooting level par through to the fifth.

Unfortunately for the 25-year-old, her round began to unravel on the sixth with a double bogey on the 376-yard par four. Although this wouldn’t be detrimental to her chances at the tournament it would be a sign of things to come on the back nine.

Mehaffey entered the back nine on two-over-par for the day and made up some ground on those ahead of her with a birdie on the 13th but bogeys on the 14th and 15th out paid to her chances of a weekend berth and the final nail in the coffin was applied with a double-bogeyed the final hole.
