The first major of the golfing calendar is here as the PGA heads to the iconic Augusta National, with the world’s top players vying for that prestigious green jacket.
Ahead of the Masters, Betway analysed the top-performing players from the past five years to determine who was earning the most per shot around the challenging course.
Only players who have featured in at least four of the past five years were included in the study, so despite Ludvig Åberg’s T2 finish on debut, he was not included in the ranking.
It comes as no surprise to see Scottie Scheffler top the ranking, having earned a tidy $4,856.93 per shot at Augusta over his past five starts.
Having won the green jacket in two of the past three years, Scheffler easily leads the ranking by over $1,300 per shot ahead of 2023 champion Jon Rahm.
Cameron Smith ranked third, with 2020 and 2021 champions Dustin Johnson and Hideki Matsuyama rounding out the top five.
Here are the best-performing golfers at Augusta in recent history:
Golfer | Shots (2020-2024) | Earnings (2020-2024) | Earnings per shot (2020-2024) |
---|---|---|---|
Scottie Scheffler | 1418 | $6,876,933 | $4,856.93 |
Jon Rahm | 1425 | $4,384,004 | $3,076.49 |
Cameron Smith | 1419 | $2,973,463 | $2,096.47 |
Dustin Johnson | 1159 | $2,400,973 | $2,071.59 |
Hideki Matsuyama | 1429 | $2,858,211 | $2,000.15 |
Rory McIlroy | 1149 | $2,252,700 | $1,960.57 |
Brooks Koepka | 1153 | $2,019,796 | $1,751.77 |
Collin Morikawa | 1427 | $2,274,600 | $1,593.97 |
Phil Mickelson | 1155 | $1,802,440 | $1,560.55 |
Xander Schauffele | 1284 | $1,907,419 | $1,486.62 |
The major talking point going into every major tournament is whether Rory McIlroy will finally complete the Grand Slam and win his first major since 2014.
Although he’s missed the cut twice in the past five years, McIlroy’s second-place finish in 2022 has him earning $1,960.57 per shot at the Masters for his performances in recent years.
Although they didn’t make the top 10, Englishmen Justin Rose, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Tyrrell Hatton all sit amongst the top 20 in the rankings.
