Ryan French, the man behind the ‘Monday Q Info’ X account and a man with contacts in most corners of professional golf, claims that LIV Golf is going to cease operations.

Speaking on ‘The Takesmen’ on X Spaces – a golf-related live group broadcast on the social media platform, hosted by a user that goes by the name ‘Tweeth Mitchell’ on X, that allows listeners to tune in and engage with various topics, French joined the conversation and suggested that “everybody should probably stay near their phones… It’s happening, it’s definitely happening.”

Without much prompting, French went on to say that the news he was expecting was that LIV Golf would soon be a thing of the past.

“I have some pretty good sources and I’ve heard that some other people have sources that LIV is shutting down,” he said.

With LIV Mexico due to start tomorrow, French suggested that it was possible that the venture collapses before the tournament event kicks off. Pre-tournament press conferences scheduled for Tuesday were cancelled, however LIV Golf Communications claimed that it was due to technical issues and they were rescheduled for later today. French’s assertion, however, is that the tournament at Club de Golf Chapultepec may not even go ahead.

“That’s the thing that’s up in the air,” he claimed. “I’m not sure they’re going to tee it up this week – maybe this week and that’s it. I think you’re going to see some pretty lengthy stories coming out from pretty long-time – New York Times-type stuff – out pretty soon.

“I had it this afternoon from a very [reliable source] and I’ve been working it all day. And yeah, I’m 99.99% confident. I know there was an email sent, I’ve talked to some agents, I’ve talked to a player, yeah, I think it’s happening.”

“I’ve got everything from, and these are people that I trust, that you guys know,” he went on to add later in the episode. “Players didn’t get paid today, power went out because the bill wasn’t paid, employees didn’t get paid. Stuff like that. “There is definitely a lot going on… Things are not good.”

Purely unfounded rumour or a case of no smoke without fire? Let’s wait and see.
