Naas professional, Jonathan Yates carded a superb bogey-free two-under-par 69 on the America Course to breeze into the final day of the 54-hole Alps Tour Qualifying School at La Cala.

Having returned an even par effort on the Asia Course yesterday, the Kildare professional looked accomplished in his work this afternoon as he moved up to a share of eighth spot on minus-two.
He now heads a trio of Irish who advanced to the last round after a cut to the top-65 players fell at six-over-par.
The trio includes Galgorm Castle’s Michael Dallat who carded a second successive 74 to sit well down the board in a share of 54th spot at plus-five while former professional footballer, Stephen Grant added an even par 72 to his horror 77 opening to claw himself to the last-18 holes on the number at six-over.

The trailing Irish duo now have serious work to do if they’re to earn themselves category 6 membership of the Alps Tour. If their name is to appear in the 2019 schedule, they’ll have to force themselves into the top-35 players by close of play Saturday. We wish them every bit of luck in their efforts.
