A top 15 finish for David Shiel (Enniscrone) and Marc Boucher (Carton House) in the Flogas Irish Men’s Amateur Open Championship has pushed them into a tie for first position in the Bridgestone Order of Merit.

Shiel finished in T12 position on level par at The Island last weekend which was a solid score around the demanding links. Boucher ended up one shot behind him on a total of +1 after rounding up his tournament with a final round 72.

Patrick Keeling (Roganstown) who is now in third position and Hugh Foley (Royal Dublin) in fourth jumped up the rankings and pushed last week’s leader Jake Whelan (Grange) down to fifth after they finished in T16 and T14 respectively.

In the women’s section, Emma Fleming (Elm Park) remains in first position after her early Scratch Cup wins. She is on 88 points, ahead of Lahinch’s Aideen Walsh with Kate Dwyer (Rossmore) sitting in third place.

All is set to play for in the women’s race as Ireland’s top amateurs will head to Woodbrook ahead of the Flogas Women’s and Girls’ Amateur Open Championship this weekend, from 19-21 May. Fleming will hope to continue her fine form into the tournament.

The next Bridgestone series event for the Men will take place at Clandeboye Golf Club ahead of the Ulster Men’s and Women’s Amateur Stroke Play Open Championship from 29-30 May.
