Royal Dublin’s Max Kennedy continued his fine form with a fifth place finish at the Sea Best Invitational as the spring collegiate season got underway.

Kennedy posted rounds of 68, 72 and 67 for a three-under total and three shots adrift of the eventual winner Fred Biondi.

The South American amateur runner-up played the first two rounds on day one with his opening round consisting of three successive birdies on the front nine before dropping a shot on 17.

Round two proved a frustrating one for the Louisville student having carded fourteen pars and a birdie, he triple-bogeyed the par-5 16th to go tumbling down the leaderboard and out of contention.

Kennedy carded a bogey-free final round to cap off a good week. Birdies on the first, ninth and seventeenth pushed him back into the top-5 and he ended the week with just two blemishes on his card.

Alex Maguire of Laytown & Bettystown and Florida Atlantic finished in 42nd place on eleven-over after rounds of 72, 70 and 79.
