The latest running of the Corballis Links Race to 59 series saw record numbers turn out on Thursday with 65 players pitting their wits against the elements for a giant share of the incredible €1,300 prize on offer.

The weather was inclement with a strong breeze and dull conditions making scoring conditions tough. Kyle Rafferty captured top honours after his superb 63 in the Nett Prize pipped John Mackin’s 64 by one.

While in the Gross Competition, The Island’s Paul McBride ground out a 64 to take the prize by a comfortable three strokes from Mark Justice.

The winners pocketed €455 each while the runners-up took home €195.

Although the elusive 59 survived another running, week 22 offers another chance to take on the mighty Links at Corballis.
