Gertie McMullen (The Island) is looking to a hat-trick of wins at the Irish Senior Women’s Close at Bunclody Golf & Fishing Club today having won and both Birr and Castletroy in the last two years. McMullen got her defence underway in the best possible style earlier in the week as she won the Therese O’Reilly Trophy as the leading qualifier and she’s now through to the semi-finals today where she will take on Maria O’Reilly from Headfort with the winner facing either Suzanne Corcoran (Portumna) or Catherine Really (The Heath) who face off in the other semi.
