Ireland’s Olivia Mehaffey and her Arizona Sun Devils Team have won the NCAA Division 1 Women’s Golf Championships.

Nothing comes easy these days and the Sun Devils had their scares along the way to the final, particularly after a delayed semi-final which saw them on the ropes against Stanford  where they had to overcome two playoffs to get through to the final.

It was a tough match in the final against Northwestern too but Arizona came out on top following 3 wins, a draw and one loss from their five matches.  It all finished on the 15th hole as Linnea Storm holed a putt for birdie which sealed the match and also the eighth national title for Arizona State, making them the most successful team in women’s college golf.

Olivia Mehaffey was one of the stars of the team and was put out in the number one position fr the final having  won her matches 5&4 and 2&1 in previous rounds.  She didn’t disappoint and went on to win her final match against Sarah Cho.  Mehaffey was 3-up after 3 and 5-up after 7 before finally winning her match 4&3.

Congratulations Olivia and all the Sun Devils.
