The Challenge Tour visits Headfort Golf Club for the first time in the latest stop on the Road to Mallorca, the season-long contest that ultimately results in the top 15 players in the Rankings graduating to the European Tour.

This season marks the fifth edition of the Stone Irish Challenge, which has seen four fantastic events, resulting in four worthy winners; Tom Murray (2015), Bernd Ritthammer (2016), Julien Guerrier (2017) and Oliver Wilson (2018).

All four players have played on the European Tour in recent years, showcasing the vast array of talent which is produced on the Challenge Tour and many of those in the field at Headfort Golf Club will be hoping to add to these stats:

The Challenge Tour in numbers

11 of the 2018 Ryder Cup players previously teed it up at Challenge Tour events, including American duo Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed.

7 of those eleven players have claimed Challenge Tour titles, including Tommy Fleetwood, Alex Noren and Henrik Stenson.

24 tournaments in 16 different countries comprise the Road to Mallorca.

470+ European Tour wins from former Challenge Tour players – Tommy Fleetwood, who topped the 2011 Challenge Tour Rankings, claimed the 400th win by a Challenge Tour alumnus at the 2017 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

Class of 2018: Oliver Wilson, who clinched the Irish Challenge title last year, is enjoying success on the European Tour this year. The former Ryder Cup player has gone on to record four top five results on the European Tour in 2019, including a runner-up finish at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.
