Dun Laoghaire to face Tramore in the Revive Active Ladies Four-ball final

Dun Laoghaire Golf Club remain on course to retain their Revive Active Ladies Four-ball trophy at Athenry Golf Club after they defeated Ballybofey & Stranorlar in the semi-final and they will now face Tramore int he final.

With four players remaining from the victorious 2018 team the top pair of Caroline Hewitt and Angela O’Sullivan were both new to this stage, and despite persistent rain throughout the day, they had a convincing win over Ballybofey’s experienced Darragh McGowan and Karen O’Meara to set Dun Laoghaire on their way.

Seasoned four-ball campaigners Fionnuala Halpin and Jacinta McGinley secured a win on the 15th leaving one more match required for Dun Laoghaire to advance to the final which Aine Jolly ad Alice Collins duly secured.

Kilrea who were so narrowly defeated by Dun Laoghaire in 2018 were keen to progress to the final again.  The team featured 7 players from last years’ campaign and got off to a great start with Una Bradley and Roisin O’Hara winning the top match against a Tramore pair that featured current Irish Girls International and ILGU Horizon high performance panel member Anna Dawson, partnered with Sarah Howard.

The tenacious Tramore team won out though as they took the second and third matches by convincing margins and eventually secured their final berth with Marian Arnold and Rachel Mulcahy defeating Lorna Torrens and Norma Clyde on the home green.
