Robert Brazill secured a share of ninth place with a final round of 72 at the Caddy Club Championship on the Clutch Pro Tour.

Brazill was in contention for victory on a bunched leaderboard and birdies on the 14th and 16th got him to within one shot of the lead with two holes to play. Unfortunately for the Naas man he bogeyed his last two holes for a seven-under total to fall three off the eventual winner Ben Hutchinson as he collected £1,200 for his efforts.

Brazill moves up to 40th on the Order of Merit ahead of the Tour Championship finale next month where there will be plenty of Irish interest with three HotelPlanner Tour cards on the line.

Laytown & Bettystown star Alex Maguire leads the Irish charge on that front and he closed with a final round of 70 to share 15th place on six-under with Paul McBride.

Maguire, who has a win this year, sits sixth on the Order of Merit while two-time winner this season McBride has slipped out of the promotion places after a missed cut last week to 8th with John Murphy 9th.

Players who finished 4th to 7th in the Order of Merit will receive seven invites for next season’s HotelPlanner Tour while there would be exemptions into the Second stage of DP World Tour Q-School for the higher finishers .

Daniel Mulligan was two-under while Murphy was 43rd on level-par.
