John Murphy stormed up the leaderboard with a low-round equalling 62 and he’s just two off the lead going into the final round of the Clutch Pro Tour’s The Hertfordshire Classic.

The Kinsale man, who already has one victory to his name on the circuit in 2026, opened with a one-under 68 and made a big move early with five birdies on the front nine in round two.

He slowed down a little on the back nine, but kept bogeys off the card for the entire round and added another pair of birdies on 16 and 17 to complete a seven-under, bogey-free round that moved him into a share of fourth place at -8.

Alex Maguire is next best of the Irish at four-under after going 66-68, while John Ross Galbraith and Robert Brazill made the cut on the number at -2.

Current Order of Merit leader Paul McBride, a two-time winner on the tour this season, was just one off the lead after an opening 64 but a 73 in round two saw him miss the cut alongside Daniel Mulligan and Marc Boucher at -1.

England’s Jack South leads at -10, with fellow countryman Habebul Islam and Denmark’s Mikkel Mathiesen one shot behind at -9.
