Rory McIlroy heads the betting for this week’s Truist Championship, with the Northern Irish star returning to one of his most successful venues on the PGA Tour.
The two-time Masters champion is priced at 5/1 to add another title at Quail Hollow Club, a course that holds special significance in his career having hosted four of his victories over the years.
McIlroy’s strong record at the North Carolina track makes him the one to beat according to the betting, although Cameron Young is expected to provide a stern challenge at 15/2 following a string of impressive performances, with Xander Schauffele (8/1) also teeing off with strong course form in his locker.
McIlroy is also prominent in the market for the second major of the season next week, where he is currently second favourite. The Holywood man is priced at 8/1 to remain on course for a historic Grand Slam campaign at the PGA Championship at Aronimink, while world number one Scottie Scheffler, absent from this week’s field, heads the betting at 4/1.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BOYLE Sports, said: “Rory McIlroy should be riding the crest of a wave following his second Masters win and there’s no better place for him to tee it up ahead of the next major than Quail Hollow. The course seems to bring out the very best in him and punters are confident it has all the ingredients for another big performance this week.”
