The 2026 OFX Irish Legends was officially launched at Carton House Fairmont, setting the stage for an exciting return this July.
The Legends tournament takes place from 9–12 July on the Montgomerie Course and forms part of the Staysure Legends Tour—a global schedule featuring over 50 of golf’s greats, including Colin Montgomerie, Ian Woosnam, Michael Campbell and more.
The strength of the field has already been evident this season. At the opening tournament of the year, the Staysure Marbella Legends, golfing greats José María Olazábal, Miguel Ángel Jiménez and Thomas Bjørn were in action, while at last week’s Barbados Legends, 2016 Open Champion Henrik Stenson headlined the field highlighting the calibre of players fans can expect to see in Ireland this July.
The launch panel featured Irish golfing hero, Paul McGinley, alongside Phil Harrison of the Staysure Legends Tour, Maeve McMahon of OFX, and Liam McCool of Carton House.
McGinley reflected on his fond memories of playing the Montgomerie Course and shared his enthusiasm about competing in the OFX Irish Legends this summer. “I’m delighted that the Staysure Legends Tour is coming back to Ireland – the Irish love their golf and the players always feel so welcome here. Carton House is an incredible venue with so much history, and all the great Irish players have passed through here whilst on the Golf Ireland programmes. It’s a full circle moment coming back to play here. I’m looking forward to seeing the home crowds cheer on the Legends up close and personal.”
Speaking on the Montgomerie course, McGinley said;
“It’s got a links feel to it. It requires good iron play, and you can get what you need out of the course. It’s a tough golf course and it will produce a really good winner down here,” he said.
Reflecting on OFX becoming tournament title partner for a third year, Maeve McMahon said;
“OFX is proud to partner with the Staysure Legends Tour to bring the OFX Irish Legends to Carton House. Beyond our partnership, we support the Legends Tour with our global payments platform, foreign exchange expertise and cards, helping them move money smoothly and securely across the international schedule. Together, we’re delivering not only world-class tournaments, but also better control and a more connected experience for players, partners and amateurs — on and off the course.”
The tournament, part of the Staysure Legends Tour, will once again offer unique “Playing Experiences,” giving amateur golfers the opportunity to play alongside some of the game’s greats. The opportunity for everyday golfers to tee it up with legends of the game, combined with a more intimate viewing experience, makes it a unique and highly engaging format on the golfing calendar. What makes the Staysure Legends Tour particularly special—and a favourite among fans and players alike—is its relaxed, inclusive atmosphere. It brings spectators closer to the action and creates genuine interaction between professionals and amateurs.
The event is free to attend with tickets available via registration on the Staysure Legends Tour website.
Past champions of the OFX Irish Legends include James Kingston, Adilson da Silva, and Peter Baker. McGinley will be aiming to become the first Irish winner of the tournament on home soil.
Carton House Fairmont is no stranger to hosting major championships, and this event is no exception. The venue’s team is fully behind the tournament, with staff embracing the opportunity to deliver another standout occasion. Tim Mullen who is part of the Mullen Hospitality Group and owners of Carton House, noted “the excitement across the team reflects the pride in bringing top-level golf back to Carton House following the success of the KPMG Women’s Irish Open.”
The 2026 OFX Irish Legends is proudly supported by partners OFX, Fáilte Ireland, Novellus Finance, Staysure, and Carton House Fairmont.
