Mark “Fooch” Fulcher, the long term caddie of Ryder Cup legend Justin Rose, has blasted the ticket prices for the 2027 contest in Adare Manor.

Tickets for the Adare Manor meeting between Europe and USA will cost a record high for a European venue at €499 for daily admission, almost twice as much as the cost for Rome 2023 but less than the €638 ($750) for Bethpage Black last year. Still, as expected, there has been huge backlash to the surprising hike.

Fooch took to Instagram to vent his frustrations at the “extortionately high” prices.

“It’s so disappointing to see such extortionately high prices for the 2027 Ryder Cup,” Fulcher wrote on Instagram. “Been lucky enough to caddy in a few and it’s amazing how incredible our support is … Seems to be a trend in sport to bleed true fans dry … sad day.”

In a statement to reveal the ticket prices, Richard Atkinson, the European Tour Group’s chief Ryder Cup officer, said: “We have extensive plans in place to enhance the onsite experience for fans attending the 2027 Ryder Cup, including a record 20,000 grandstand seats and an increased number of giant screens.”

“For the first time, there will also be an Official Ryder Cup campsite with entertainment, full details of which will be announced in due course.

“We also wanted to ensure that as wide a demographic as possible can be part of, and enjoy, this major global sporting event. Therefore, in addition to a range of different price points for fans, we are grateful to Musgrave, whose support means families from across the island of Ireland will have access to tickets as part of the SuperValu Community Day on the Tuesday of Ryder Cup week.”

Ryder Cup organisers later defended the ticket prices for next year’s centenary event in Adare Manor.

Atkinson, the European Tour Group’s Chief Ryder Cup Officer told BBC Sport NI: “We acknowledge it’s an increase from Rome,” Richard Atkinson, the European Tour Group’s chief Ryder Cup officer, told BBC Sport NI.

“That was four years ago and a lot has happened in the world since then. We are lower than Bethpage. We’ve tried to make this as accessible as possible to a wide demographic of people. Our practice day tickets will be from 89 euros and juniors from 20 euros.

“Our prices are proportionate to a global sporting event. This event has grown in stature and profile, it’s one of the biggest sporting events in the world. We’re confident in our pricing but we’ve made it accessible to everyone.”

250,000 fans are expected to pass through the gates despite the prices throughout the practice and competition days.
