The WPGA Lady Golf Professionals will return to Glasson Lakehouse, located in the hidden heartlands of Athlone, Co Westmeath in 2024 for a one-day Pro-Am followed by a one-day Pro-only event.

A strong field of Lady Golf Professionals (WPGA) have already registered to participate in both the Pro-AM on Monday 20th May and 1 Day Pro Only Series on Tuesday 21st May and it promises to be another fantastic event.

The course at Glasson Golf Club, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary was designed by 1989 Ryder Cup star Christy O’Connor Jnr. and is as challenging as it is scenically stunning. The first nine holes overlook Lough Ree, and the second nine, which features the par-three 17th with both tee and green situated in the lake, overlooks the stunning Killinure Bay.

O’Connor described it as one of the most scenic pieces of land he had seen in his life, which makes the venue the perfect stage to kick off this exciting WPGA program comprising 11 events and more than £30k in prize money.

Confirmed entries for the event include England’s former Solheim Cup Player & Captain & former US Open Champion, LPGA & European Tour Player – Alison Nicholas MBE (Redditch GC). Scotland’s former European & LPGA Tour Player Cathy Panton Lewis (The Berkshire GC). England’s Suzanne Dickens (Thorpewood Golf Course), PGA Captain 2022 Sarah Bennet (Lexden GC), Ali Gray (Omskirk GC), Marie Marindale (Hampstead GC), Emma Martin (Close House GC) and Scotland’s Heather Sterling (Braehead GC).

Teeing it up representing Ireland and their clubs will be former European Tour Players Hazel Kavanagh (Impact Golf at Leopardstown) & Lynn McCool (Glasson Golf Club) alongside Marian Riordan (Dundrum House Hotel, Golf & Leisure Resort), Maura Morrin (Stepaside Golf Centre). Barbara Hackett (Killester Travel), Katie Coleman (Kilkeel GC).

Niamh Cunningham (McGuirks- Kilkenny), Tara Delaney (Carlow GC), Louise Darcy (Wicklow GC), Gemma McClenaghan (City of Derry GC), Emily McCanny (The Kinsealy Grange Driving Range), Mary Doyle (Golf Ireland Academy) & Alexandra Murphy (Lisheen Springs GC) will also be in the event and hopefully will be challenging for the title.

The event is proudly supported by Killester Travel, PING & Irelands Hidden Heartlands who have teamed up to continue to support this woman in sports event. The event will comprise of 20+ Lady Golf Professionals teaming up with amateur’s male and female for a fun-packed Pro-am.
