Rowan Lester and Robert Brazill are both in promising positions to advance through from Stage One of Sunshine Tour Qualifying School at the halfway stage.

Lester leads the Irish charge on two-under-par after a second round of 69 which sees him in third place and just three shots off the lead.

Professional debutante Brazill is two shots further back after an encouraging round of 70 where he birdied three of his closing five holes.

Brazill lies in a share of eight place.

K Club profesional Liam Grehan ground out a one-over 73 to lie on five-over and crucially in a share of 31st place.

The top-40 and ties advance to the second stage of Q-School and Grehan is inside the cut mark by the minimum.
