Anna Abom wins Scratch Cup thriller in Royal County Down

Edmondstown’s Anna Abom was the last woman standing in Royal County Down as she clinched the Royal County Down Ladies Scratch Cup.

Abom carded rounds of 75 and 79 to win by the minimum on two-over-par.

Close House golfer Maggie Whitehead put on a sensational second round charge, carding a superb 71 after an opening 84 to take 2nd on three-over.

The same could be said for Lahinch star Aideen Walsh who recovered from a morning round of 80 with an afternoon effort of 75 to claim third place also on three-over.

R&A Student Tour Series winner in Portugal, Emma Fleming of Elm Park took fourth place on three-over after rounds of 76 and 79 while Kate Lanigan (Hermitage) was fifth, on three-over and also just a shot off the pace.

The in form Annabel Wilson was sixth on four-over-par.
