Byrne starts as she means to go on with fourth place finish

Sara Byrne opened the final spring season of her collegiate career with a share of fourth place at the UCF Challenge.

The Douglas star who won back-to-back events for Miami before Christmas carded rounds of 70, 70 and 69 for a seven-under total, finishing six shots behind runaway winner Lauren Zaretsky.

There was still medallist honours for Byrne who helped Miami into third place on the team leaderboard.

Also in action was Byrne’s teammate, Rebekah Gardner, the freshman carded rounds of 71, 72 and 73 for a T31 finish on level-par.

Meanwhile, Katie Poots saved her best for last with a final round effort of 69 to jump alongside Gardner on level-par as her UCF team shared fourth place on the team leaderboard.
