Lurgan’s Annabel Wilson continued to climb the leaderboard in Portugal as she moved into seventh place at the 94th Portuguese Ladies Amateur.

Wilson, a former Curtis Cup player is on six-under-par after a third round of 71, twelve shots behind runaway leader Helen Briem of Germany who will take an eight shot lead into the final round.

Wilson opened with a bogey before reeling off three successive birdies. A run often straight pars was cancelled out by a double bogey six on 15 but she responded with a flourish to birdie her last two holes.

Elm Park’s Emma Fleming and Hermitage’s Kate Lanigan are in 14th place on two-under-par while Olivia Costello and Mairead Martin missed the 54-hole cut.
