Gavin Young looked down on everyone at the end of day’s play as he edged to a one-shot win at the Castle Golf Club Pro-Am on Sunday afternoon.

The Ballyneety professional carded a two-under 68 to pip Steven Quinlan and David Higgins by the minimum.

It’s Young’s second win on the region having claimed a winter series win last year.

Playing time has been limited for Young who was making just his fourth start of the season and his first since the Carlow Pro-Am in the first week of June where he placed 22nd.

SQ Golf pro Quinlan and Waterville veteran Higgins led the way for much of the afternoon after posting morning rounds of 69 while Tim Rice of Limerick, Kilkenny’s Jimmy Bolger and Michael McGeady were two shots off the pace on level-par.
