Emma Fleming (Elm Park) has retained her position at the head of the Bridgestone Order of Merit after another stellar performance in the Flogas Irish Women’s and Girls’ Amateur Open Championship at Woodbrook last weekend.
Fleming finished tied seventh behind eventual winner Lorna McClymont (Milngavie). The Scot was outstanding all weekend and her -16 total was enough to see off Beth Coulter (Kirkistown Castle) in the runner-up spot and Jess Hall (Bishop Auckland).
Meanwhile, Aideen Walsh (Lahinch) holds second place in the Bridgestone Order of Merit. Followed closely by Kate Lanigan (Hermitage) with Coulter up to fifth while Flogas Irish Girls’ Open champion Olivia Costello (Roscommon) has moved to seventh.
The men’s rankings are unchanged with David Shiel (Enniscrone) and Marc Boucher (Carton House) top of the pile ahead of Patrick Keeling (Roganstown) and reigning champion Hugh Foley (Royal Dublin), Jake Whelan (Grange) completes the top five.
Attention now turns to the next Bridgestone Order of Merit event, scheduled for Clandeboye next week. The Ulster Men’s and Women’s Stroke Play tees off on Monday.
