County Westmeath’s Glasson Lakehouse has been announced the host Irish venue for the 2023 WPGA Series as it celebrates its 30-year anniversary.

There will be a pro-am on Monday May 22nd before the 1 day Pro Only series takes place on the 23rd with a strong Lady Golf Professional field set to compete including Alison Nicholas, former Solheim Cup Captain and former US Open Champion, who will back at the Emerald Isle for this WPGA Event.

Press up Hospitality, Killester Travel and Failte Ireland are the leading forces driving the event forward which will include 20 Lady Golf Professionals teaming up with both male and female amateurs in the pro-am with a clinic hosted by Lady Golf Professionals prior to the shotgun start.

The Christy O’Connor Jnr design which overlooks Lough Ree and Killinure Bay will kick off the WPGA Series which will be played across eleven events for more than £30k in prize money.

Lynn Mc Cool, Director of Golf at Glasson Golf Club is delighted with the entry “This is the first time we have put together a WPGA Pro Am in Ireland. It’s very exciting to be bringing it to Glasson Lakehouse and I know the girls will love the hotel and the golf course. I’m absolutely thrilled at the support from the PROS from across Ireland, England & Scotland. I love the format we have put together for the Pro AM with the clinic and the shotgun start. I’m really looking forward to the Q&A with Alison Nicholas & Sarah Bennett after dinner on the evening of the Pro-Am. Day 2 will be the OCEANTEE Series Individual tournament for the pros.

“Driving this event forward is all thanks to our sponsors, Press Up Hospitality, Killester travel – The Flying Golfer.com, and Failte Ireland. I’m going to be teeing it up myself and this will be the first time I have played alongside many of these girls since formerly playing on the tour back in the 90’s! Each of the Professionals have either formerly played on the European Tour, all qualified as WPGA Professionals or starting out on their Professional Careers. I better get practicing!”

CEO of Press up Hospitality Ben Barclay was thrilled to see Glasson Lakehouse providing the stage to showcase the talent in women’s golf.

“Glasson Lakehouse is delighted to host the inaugural WPGA event taking place in Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands. This competition will showcase the incredible talent in women’s golf, and we are thrilled that Glasson Lakehouse’s course will play host to this exciting tournament that we hope will be a regular fixture for many years to come. At Press Up Hospitality Group, we are committed to supporting initiatives that promote, celebrate, and encourage participation of women in sports, and are proud to sponsor this great event!”
