Lauren Walsh is in a share of fifth place heading into the final round of the ACC Women’s Golf Championship at Sedgefield Country Club as Wake Forest lead the team rankings.

The Castlewarden native shot rounds of 73 and 68 to cllimb to three-under and she lies seven shots off Virginia’s Amanda Sambach.

Walsh got nothing going in round one with a birdie of 5 followed by successive bogeys on 6 and 7 before she closed with eleven successive pars. But she came out roaring in the afternoon with a birdie on the fifth again which was followed by back-to-back gains on 10 and 11.

A bogey on 14 did not stop her momentum as she birdied two of her last four to come home in 34.

Wake Forest hold a five-shot lead over Duke on fifteen-under-par.

Miami’s Sara Byrne lies in a share of 15th place on one-over-par after rounds of 74 and 71 alongside Boston’s Canice Screen who posted 72 and 73 while Louisville’s Mairead Martin is on plus eight.

Meanwhile in the SEC Champinoship Aine Donegan of LSU is in third place on one-inder-par while her college lead the team standings by three shots.

Auburn’s Anna Foster is in tenth place on plus two with her college in second place heading into the final day.
