Sean Keeling came from three shots back to win the Scottish Boys Open Championship making it a double celebration for the Irish.

An eagle on the par-5 9th proved pivotal for the Roganstown starlet as he roared three ahead entering the back nine.

A morning 67 saw Keeling overturn his overnight deficit and take a one-shot lead into the afternoon’s final round.

The teenager opened with a bogey but was remarkably steady from there, following his eagle with a birdie on 15 which proved the clincher as he held on for a one-shot win over South Africa’s Bryan Newman who laid down the gauntlet with a five-under 66.

In the end it was Friday rounds of 67 and 69 that saw Keeling secure his third amateur title of 2023.

Earlier in the day, Roscommon’s Olivia Costello got things up and running from an Irish perspective with a superb four-shot win in the Scottish Girls.
