Emma Fleming and Barry Anderson lead the way in the Bridgestone Order of Merit as the championships season gets up in running.
The collaboration between Golf Ireland and Bridgestone showcases a mutual dedication to fostering the potential of amateur golf players and affording them an opportunity to showcase their skills on a national level.
And on Saturday, the Lahinch Women’s Scratch Cup takes centre stage with the next men’s event the Munster Men’s Amateur Open on 29 April.
The current standings see Elm Park golfer Fleming followed closely by Aideen Walsh (Lahinch) and Anna Abom (Edmondstown). Reigning champion, Knock’s Katie Poots, is back in seventh.
Last week, Paula Walsh from Doneraile clinched victory at the Munster Women’s Senior Amateur Open Championship in Monkstown. She held off the challenge of Lisa Cullen, Aideen Walsh and Lauren Kelly.
In the men’s section, Anderson is just ahead of Marc Boucher (Carton House) and Shane McDermott (Slieve Russell). Last year’s winner from Royal Dublin, Hugh Foley, is down in 12th.
2017 champion Anderson’s dream run culminated in a showdown at the West of Ireland Amateur Open Championship final on Tuesday. However he was defeated 6&5 by the exceptional James Claridge from Enville at County Sligo Golf Club in Rosses Point.
