Ireland got off to a flying start at the Junior Quadrangular Matches in the Netherlands as they saw off Scotland and Wales to tee up a top of the table clash with the hosts.

The Girls and Boys in Green beat Scotland 4.5-3.5 before romping to a thumping 6.5-1.5 win over the Welsh in the second match of the day.

In the Scottish Clash there were wins for Roscommon’s Olivia Costello (4&2), the foursome duo of Sean Reddy and Gordon Sillett (2&1), Finlay Eager (3&1) and Calum Duane (2&1).

It was much more plain sailing in the afternoon as Ireland won four matches on the spin towards the end of the draw to steal a march on Wales.

In the girls bracket Costello and Blackbush’s Niamh O’Grady won their foursomes match on 18 while Kate Dillon won 2UP.

Eager and Duane romped to a 6&4 win before Adam Fahey, Reddy and Sillett made it four matches in a row for the Irish to take the win.
