Luke O’Neill played his part as he helped Kansas State overturn a ten shot deficit to win the Johnny-O Championship. O’Neill carded a one-over 71 while Kansas were the only team to break par after 54 holes.

The Wildcats found themselves ten shots adrift after the opening round but a combined seven-under round in the second round and a two-under round in the final round saw them run out comfortable seven-stroke winners.

O’Neill opened his final round with back-to-back dropped shots but was extremely solid for the remainder, picking up a birdie at the eighth with the rest all pars as he finished in 18th place on three-over-par.

“That was a big-time win for us,” head coach Grant Robbins said. “I’m really proud of how the guys just stayed with the process and showed tremendous toughness and grit down the stretch. To come back like we did after the first round and play like that in difficult conditions is a tremendous accomplishment.”
