Lauren Walsh was runner-up in the individual leaderboard of the Nexus Collegiate as Wake Forest eased to a second title in as many tournaments at Albany Golf Club.

A one-over 73 gave Walsh a 54-hole total of one-under making her one of two players to end the week under-par with Latanna Stone winning by five shots on six-under.

After carding the low round of day two, the Castlewarden native registered two bogeys and just a single birdie to sign for her highest collegiate finish.

“We are thrilled to take home another team win. The competition was outstanding, and as you can see by the scores, the conditions of the course were difficult. The wind was gusting throughout the tournament, which made for tough conditions every day.  We are thrilled for Lauren Walsh and her second-place finish. We are looking forward to getting home and having a few weeks to work on our game before the Darius at the end of the month.

“We also want to thank our supporters of the program that made the trip with us. It made for a special week for our Wake Forest family. Go Deacs!” – head coach Kim Lewellen.

Elm Park’s Anna Foster was two shots further back in third place as the Auburn student carded a final round of 74 to finish on one-over.

It was a mixed bag for Foster who carded three birdies and five bogeys.

A second successive 73 for Áine Donegan of LSU saw her climb into a share of 7th on five-over.

Arizona State’s Beth Coulter rounded off the Irish interest in 21st place on eleven-over.
